Send a thank you note following your interview

Be sure you are among the one of three candidates to send a thank you note following an interview. Two of three candidates do not send thank you messages, risking high likelihood of not being considered for positions.
Hints for a great note:
1. use a hand-written thank you card to personalize your message, if you have decent hand-writing. Type your message as a fall-back alternative if your penmanship is poor.
2. send your note the same day if possible, certainly no more than 24 hours later.
3. thank the interviewer for her time and mention a valuable key point or two from the interview.
4. be sure to address the envelope using the person’s correctly spelled name, title, and organization’s mailing address.
5. tell the interviewer if you are excited about the opportunity and ask when you may expect to move to next step.
5. make sure you send a note to all people you met. It’s a good idea to exchange business cards, and take contact information of interviewers that did not give you a card. Note: it is a good idea to take a portfolio pad to ensure that you keep track of all the people you meet!
