TUSCULUM COLLEGE MARKETING PROFESSOR 2001 to 2010
Awarded Tusculum College faculty recognition: Oversaw student-created marketing plans for 8 non-profit organizations in 2009 and 45 though 5 1/2 years, integrating citizen-service with academic course goals.
Received regional organization educator award: Awarded the 10-member East Tennessee College Alliance’s Adult Student Educator of the 2007 to 2008 Year for creativity in serving adult learners.
Volunteer to assist students’ career development: Serve up to 135 students annually to focus career direction, learn their strengths, and build leadership for successful careers. Started Tusculum’s Professional Career Development courses in spring 2009 to prepare students for high value-added careers and life callings.
Serve as lead marketing instructor, marketing discipline coordinator, marketing concentration advisor, and received election to chair Tusculum College faculty’s Admissions and Standards Committee for two 12-month terms from 2007 to 2009.
MARKETING MANAGER IN THREE MAJOR ORGANIZATIONS 28 Years
Specialized in professional consultative selling: Focused on new product marketing, and business strategy planning for Kimberly-Clark and Reynolds American. Served 5 years at the University of Tennessee as assistant vice president of corporate relations partnerships with $ 1 billion or more revenue corporations.
COMMUNITY SERVICE LEADERSHIP 45 Years
Volunteered 8 years as Cub Master and Scoutmaster: Counseled young men to develop self-confidence and citizenship. Mentored and motivated 7 Scouts to earn Scouting’s highest lifetime achievement by becoming Eagle Scouts.
Collaborated as PR director and member of YMCA marketing team: Team raised $2.56 million to construct new YMCA supported with $15,000 marketing budget. Contributed to membership drive for fastest growing YMCA in the southeast US, exceeding the 1st year membership goal by 265% in less than 6 months.
Promoted incorporation of new municipal government: Defined community boundary; chaired 1st finance committee, specified services, and set 5 cent/$100 ad-valorem tax, lowest tax in state. Collaborated with sheriff to introduce low cost police coverage approach which became model for more than 137 municipalities.
Oversaw marketing plan to determine location and facilities for new church: Ensured membership growth from 179 families to minimum of 500 families within 5 years, attaining 829 families year by year 5.

Mentor high school seniors: Teach Junior Achievement to high school seniors. Awarded East Tennessee “Outstanding High School Volunteer of the Year” for 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 academic years.
Volunteer in veterans’ organizations: Serve East Tennessee Military Affairs Counsel, Navy and Marine Corps Leagues, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), American Legion, and United Service Organization (USO).
Donate blood: Donated average of 4 pints of blood annually since age 20, reaching 188 pints or 23.5 gallons through 2010. Each donation serves approximately 3 patients per pint or total of about 564 patients.
MILITARY SERVICE 4 Years Active Duty
Former US Marine operations platoon sergeant. Facilitated artillery, close air support, armor, and naval gunfire coordination to safeguard Marine infantry units in Vietnam.
Serve East Tennessee Military Affairs Council, Congressional Medal of Honor Society, VFW, American Legion, Navy League, and Marine Corps League.
EDUCATION
The University of Tennessee Bachelor of Science & MBA degrees in marketing.
